Who we are
Chicago Plumbworks is a marketing company. We run this website and the phone number on it. We are not a plumbing contractor. We don’t hold a plumbing contractor license or employ plumbers.
Who does the work
Every job that starts with a call or a form on this site is done by an independent plumbing company that we work with, called our partners on this page. In Chicago, plumbing work has to be done by plumbers licensed under Illinois law who work for a plumbing contractor licensed by the City of Chicago Department of Buildings.
Our partners in Chicago are licensed. {{TODO: confirm partner insurance before stating it.}} The partner who takes your job is responsible for the work, its quality, any permits it needs, its warranty and its price.
How we are paid
Our partners pay us for the calls and requests we pass to them. You don’t pay Chicago Plumbworks anything. The plumbing company on your job sets its own prices, and you pay that company for the work you approve.
What we check, and what we don’t
{{TODO: owner to state what is checked before a partner takes calls, for example City contractor license status and insurance certificates, and how often.}}
We don’t inspect or supervise any job, and we don’t set or promise prices, arrival times or results. Timing and availability come from the partner on the day.
How to check a plumbing license in Chicago
The City of Chicago Department of Buildings keeps a contractor license lookup for plumbing contractors licensed to work in the city. Individual plumbers are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Ask the plumber at the visit for the company name and its City license number.
